The Olive Tree

The cultivated olive tree originates from the eastern Mediterranean basin. It is able to adjust to long periods of hot, dry summers while showing special endurance during temperatures bordering on 0°C. Mature olive trees are trees of average size. In some cases, the trees can reach heights of up to 10 meters. In spite of this, dwarf olive trees for decorative purposes can be found.

In the Mediterranean area, olive trees bloom at the end of spring (from April – May) while harvesting begins at the end of November and ends in February in the more southern areas.
